General Information

As the New Year is upon us in this desert region of Arizona,
many illnesses tend to blossom. Whether it is a common virus
or the "flu" bug, Cottonwood Medical Center, Ltd. experiences a
larger volume of patients during the winter months. It is our
desire to accommodate every patient that calls with an illness
on the same day. This commitment to our patients may result in
a longer wait to see your provider. Your provider may be running
behind schedule due to a patient with complications from an
illness or a delay due to a hospital admission. Please be
patient with your provider. This area of the country is unique due
to the amazing increase in population during the winter months.
It has been calculated that the population in the Casa Grande
region increases by over 20,000 people during the winter
months. This increase brings its positives and negatives. We
prefer to look at the positives. Our providers will do their very
best to accommodate your request to see a provider on the
same day. Please assist us by being patient and understanding
of the patients around you.

Advance Directives

Upon your first visit to Cottonwood you will be provided a
small-stapled packet about several forms of Advance Directives.
Old and young alike receive this packet. An Advance Directive is
a document in which you give instructions about your health
care, what you want done or not done, in the case that you
cannot speak for yourself. This packet explains the types of
Advance Directives such as a Health Care Directive, a Living Will
and a Health Care (Medical) Power of Attorney. This packet is for
your information and the providers here at Cottonwood
encourage you to read this material. If you would like an
additional copy of this packet, please ask our receptionist.

Medication Refills

Cottonwood receives many requests to refill medications. There
are several ways you can ensure you do not run out of your
medication. You may call your pharmacy and request a refill.
This request is transmitted to our office by fax and goes directly
to the provider. You may call the office and leave a message on
our pharmacy line, which is option #3. Remember to be
prepared to spell your name and the name of the medication,
your date of birth; what pharmacy you use, the ordering provider
and a return phone number. If you have not been seen in the
last six months and your refills have expired, please call the
office and arrange an appointment. Please note that
Cottonwood providers do not refill antibiotics over the telephone
and prescriptions are not refilled over the weekend or through
our answering service. This includes all pain medication. The
standard time to expect an answer on a refill request is 48
hours. Always remember to dispose of your old medication
bottles when you pick up your new prescription from the
pharmacy.
